Workshops Spark Creativity with Queensway Junior Pupils
Back
Queensway Junior Academy were delighted to welcome The Children’s Bookshow, (BTO) and the Thetford Local Cultural Education Partnership to work with our Year 3 classes.
On Wednesday 23rd April, we had a launch assembly for all Key Stage 2 students, where we had the pleasure of listening to Doctor Evans. He gave an engaging talk about the different birds and habitats local to Thetford. It was fascinating to learn about the wildlife right in our own back garden, and the children were captivated by his stories and knowledge.
Following the assembly, Year 3 were treated to a performance by the award-winning author-illustrators Neal Layton and Helen Stephens at The Carnegie in Thetford. Their storytelling and illustrations were truly magical, and it was wonderful to see the children so enthralled and inspired by their creativity.
But the excitement didn’t stop there! Neal Layton and Helen Stephens also led creative workshops at our school. The students had the opportunity to express their own creativity, drawing inspiration from the performance. It was a joy to see their imaginations come to life through their artwork and stories.
The event will conclude with a public exhibition of the children’s creative work at Thetford Library. This exhibition will showcase the incredible talent and creativity of all the students across Thetford.
